THE JOYOUS MOOD OF AYODHYA'S SUBJECTS

Since the day Sri Rama came back to Ayodhya after marrying Sita, the people of Ayodhya were in a joyous mood. Everybody wished that now it was the time for Dashrath to hand over the throne to Sri Rama.

Once, Dashrath was trying to rearrange his crown. Looking at the mirror, He saw that some strands of his hair had turned grey. He realized that he had grown old and that he should hand over the throne to Sri Rama. He told about his desire to Vashishta. Vashishta agreed with him and advised to accomplish this task without further delay.

Dashrath also conveyed his feelings to all his ministers and Sumant. Every one was pleased at the prospect of Sri Rama becoming the king.

Then, Dashrath instructed all his ministers to follow all the commands of Vashishta. Vashishta ordered them to bring holy water from all the places of pilgrimage. He also asked them to bring flowers, fruits, herbs etc.
