Butter
Butter is extracted either from milk or curd, It is easily digestible as compared
to clarified butter (ghee). Normally butter is made from the milk of cow, buffalo or goat.
Properties
(a) Butter made from cow's milk.
This is very beneficial for the body. It increases virility and sexual power, improves the complexion of the body and checks loose motion. It also cures piles, flatulation and coughs. It cures all the diseases related with excessive wind and bile in the body, impurities of the blood etc. This butter is considered as the best.
(b) Butter made from buffalo milk:
Butter made from buffalo milk is heavy and causes the formation of excessive wind and phelgm in the body, but eliminates excessive bile. It is beneficial in inflammation and tiredness. It helps in accumulation of fat and seen in the body. This butter is heavy, so it takes a little long time to get digested as compared to the butter made from cow's milk.
(c) Butter made from goats milk:
Butter made from goat's milk is sweet, bitter, beneficial for the eyes, an appetizer, and gives strength. It has curative effects in many diseases like consumption, cough, diabetes, eye diseases, jaundice etc.
Uses:
- Butter made from cow's milk and sugar in it, curs chronic fever.
- If honey and gold ashes are mixed in butter and then eaten, it has beneficial effect in tuberculosis. It also gives strength.
- The use of butter made from cow's milk and sesame seeds is very beneficial in piles.
- Eating the mixture of butter, honey and sugar cures diarrhea attended with blood.
- Eating the mixture of butter, saffron and sugar has beneficial effects in bleeding piles.
- If butter made from cow's milk is applied on the eyes, it gives relief from inflammation in the eyes.
Note
Only fresh butter should be used. Butter which is not fresh and which has become stale is harmful.
Clarified butter (Ghee)
Ghee is prepared by heating the butter for a short while till there is a soft crackling sound.
Emanation of special smell indicates that the ghee has formed. Ghee prepared from cream of the milk is superior than the ghee prepared from butter. Ghee prepared from cow's milk is superior than ghee prepared from buffalo milk or goat's milk
Properties
1) Ghee prepared from cow's milk :
Ghee prepared from cow's milk is good for the eyes, sweet, heavy and strength giving. It increases virility copulating power and appetite. It eliminates all the three flaws of phelgm, wind and bile in the body. It also increases the intelligence, capabilities, and radiance.
2) Ghee prepared from buffalo milk :
It is sweet and cool. It causes the formation of excessive phelgm in the body, eliminates plethora, flatulence and blood impurities. It increases virility.
3) Ghee prepared from goat milk :
It is an appetizer, beneficial for the eyes, strength giving. It is bitter in taste and eliminates cough. It is also beneficial in breathing problem due to excessive phelgm and consumption.
4) Ghee prepared from ewe's milk :
It is light. It is an eliminator of all the diseases, developes the bones, eliminates stones, and flatulence. It is an appetizer and beneficial for the eyes. It is especially used as a massage oil to join fractured bones.
5)Ghee is sweet, beneficial for the eyes, an appetizer and heavy. It increases intelligence, memory, radiance, strength and beauty. It is beneficial in many diseases like consumption, blood impurities, colic in stomach, swelling of the stomach due to indigestion.
Uses
- Ghee is used very commonly in our diet. Not only that it is considered so pure but it is even used during worship. It is said that the food is incomplete without the use of ghee. Fresh ghee should be used in food.
- Old ghee is used commonly in Ayurveda for its excellent medicinal properties. Old ghee eliminates all the three flavors in the body. It is also beneficial in many diseases like leprosy, hysteria, hazzy vision and to neutralize the effect of poison. It is also beneficial for a person with burnt injury.
- In case of a snake bite, 120-220 grams of pure ghee is given to the person and made him to drink to the extent he vomits out all the poison. After 15 minutes, warm water should be given to him as per his requirement so that he vomits it out again. This act can be repeated if required.
- Burning of a ghee lamp eliminates the viruses and bacteria in the house
- Hiccups are checked if warm ghee prepared from cow's milk is taken.
- Ghee prepared from cow's milk, when mixed in cow's milk, cures thirst.
- Before going to sleep, if half litres of milk with two spoonful of ghee is taken, it helps in clear evacuation of the bowels in the morning.
- If few drops of ghee prepared from cow's milk is dropped in the nostrils then blood coming out from the nose is checked. If this is done twice in a day, then hemicrania is cured.
- It neutralizes the intoxicating effects of liquor or "bhang".
Note
Only that much ghee should be used as one can digest. Only fresh ghee should be used in the food.
Ghee is harmful for the people suffering from severe consumption, phlegmatic diseases, fever, dyspepsia, acidity and asthma etc.
